Anyone wondering why the United States stayed the course in Iraq? Because this was a Christian Crusade for the Bush administration, and now there are documents to prove it. Go here:
http://men.style.com/gq/features/topsecret
To use God’s name to wreak such destruction and havoc, and then claim that we are helping the Iraqi people is nothing but hypocrisy. This is not the way to use God’s name. I am sure that somewhere in Bush’s twisted little brain, God told him to torture as well.
There is not one man or woman of any religious affiliation that would back the claim that God told George Bush to go to war. Most religions have been against this war to begin with.
This is exactly why the marriage of church and state should never be. George W. Bush wants us to believe that God told him to go to war, to kill more than 4,000 Americans and more than 1 million innocent Iraqis. Any idea how many everyday people are in prison for telling that story to justify breaking the law?
This was one administration where the inmates were truly running the asylum. I can’t imagine how close we all came to nuclear (a la Bush: nukular) armageddon.
The justifications for Iraq were shaky enough with0ut this garbage. The Bush administration should be investigated and prosecuted. Anything less is a miscarriage of justice.

Thanks for posting this on the site Deb, the more people that see it the better. There’s so much to say just about the influence of religion on the war, let alone it’s influence in other spheres of American life. I live in a country where over 90% of the population professes to be Catholic (Poland) yet politicians aren’t expected to pray in public because of some “national prayer day” and there isn’t a creationist to be found (well, maybe in the east of the country - they could still be rounding up Jews and Gypsies for the Nazis out there). Well, at least the Jesus crew should keep enough people scared of the Republican party to keep the Democrats in power for awhile.

You have got to be kidding! If this was April 1st I’d figure you were just goofing on all of us.
You call that proof??? Since when has “GQ” ever been considered a credible news source. What photoshopped and cropped crap are you going to throw at us next. Maybe it’ll be Dick Cheney morphed into a live waterboarding shot and you can triumphantly announce, “YOU SEE!!! I have proof! Cheney TORTURED!!! Dennis, call your lawyers!!! Prosecute! Justice!!!!”
Iraq had nothing to do with God. George Bush’s religious beliefs are what they are. You forget the Clinton’s went to church every Sunday too, although Bill was a little shaky on paying attention to the 10 Commandments, but I digress. No president and no political issue should be attacked with phony photos from GQ as “proof.” As far as nahummer goes, if he really believed this nonsense then I’ll have to re-evaluate my opinion of old polish jokes à la Archie Bunker because even the Meathead wasn’t that dumb.
What’s next Deb, a headline from the Weekly World News….BOY TRAPPED IN REFRIGERATOR EATS OWN FOOT???
Comment by Deb Della Piana on 19 May 2009:
Know what, Joker. These are government documents that were just declassified. Whomever is presenting them isn’t the issue; it’s that they exist. They have been declassified. This is not April Fools Day either. We had that for eight years. I’m sure if it came from FOX, you’d be a believer.
Comment by Murray on 19 May 2009:
Joker: The GQ “discloser” has been exposed as a hoax and has admitted it.
Comment by Deb Della Piana on 19 May 2009:
Joker, the story about eating his own foot would be on Fox, I believe. You know, Faux News.
Comment by Joker on 19 May 2009:
Deb: I issue this challenge for all to see.
Anytime you want, you show me ONE story from Fox News that isn’t true. I’m not talking about the fact that they don’t care for Obama. You can’t blame Fox for exposing all the promises he’s already broken, kinda like you did in a recent post of your own. I’m talking about a report of any news story that turns out to be false - along the lines of Dan Rather’s classic story on Bush’s National Guard service.
I get a kick out of you liberals wanting to deny us ONE station with a right-side tilt when you have all the others. ABC News, mainly due to Jake Tapper, is the ONLY one of the big 3 that isn’t kissing Obama’s feet ad nauseum. NPR may as well be Radio Moscow, along with MSNBC. The Clinton News Network isn’t as bad as they used to be, but they are still quite leftist in focus. All we get is FOX, thank goodness, and even they allow Alan Colmes to speak once in a while. How much more generous can they be? Do you think Rachel is going to have Fred Barnes or George Will on anytime soon?
It’s bad enough that anytime a Democrat screws up, his or her party affiliation will be missing from any part of the story when you hear it or read it in the Main Stream Media. Conversely, when Larry Craig tapped his foot in the bathroom, all you heard for WEEKS from the MSM were stories lead off with…”Today, Republican Senator Larry Craig said….”
Your gang has Hollywood and the majority of the news media. Don’t begrudge us our ONE cable news station - which is also the most watched cable news in the country by the way. There has to be someplace to go for the truth, and that ain’t coming from Katie Couric or the harpies on The View.

Excellent, what’s this, a troll called Joker who likes Archie Bunker? Thanks for the Meathead compliment. I love it, hope I didn’t miss much. Hmm, surprise, didn’t. Thanks for coming out buddy, but I’d prefer a journalist from GQ than a neo-con whore from your news source, guessing it’s Faux news, to go along with the motor oil flowing through your veins. (sorry, couldn’t help but see your blog is Harley based - looks good BTW, not that I’m a fan, accidently hit your name on countless other comments you seem to have time to write all day)
You could be the classic Archie, ignoring the firestorm of change that has washed over the world. Fact is, it was an oil+god war, and suddenly it looks more and more like the rapture was as important as the capture (sorry, best I could do, get it capture Osama by invading Iraq and torturing people into admitting the link between the two, or something). Link please Murray, life is easier that way, thanks.
Oh yeah, just happen to be living in Poland, so I could use some of those old Polish jokes… Guessing, conjecture, evil I know, that Joker’s been to every lower 48, plus Alaska and let me guess, Mexico! Unless of course he spent time in the armed forces, then I’m sure he’s seen the world; could explain the knee jerk “the rest of the press is so liberal!” ranting. How did we get there from the god told W to invade Iraq thing again?
Comment by Joker on 19 May 2009:
Wow. You know what nahummer, that’s the first time I’ve ever read a liberal’s rebuttal that actually made me smile. It’s refreshing to have a few shots taken at me in a civil manner with a sense of humor.
I don’t think I’d go so far as to consider all the folks over at Fox neocons. Whores is another matter entirely. Either way, if you prefer GQ that’s your choice but I am forced to point out that all those photos were strictly off the stable floor. That’s not an opinion either; that’s a fact. I’ll extend the same challenge to you that I did to Deb: Show me ONE news story (not opinion segment) from Fox News that’s inaccurate. We both know the reason you folks on the Left can’t stand Fox is because they are always RIGHT, both literally and figuratively.
Thank you for checking out my m/c blog and you’re right, motor oil running through my veins is a fair statement. The reason I have all day to write sometimes is because I’m disabled from a m/c accident. I was hit by an illegal immigrant from Brazil who was driving without a license and T-boned me. Of course I know you liberal folks all think we should continue to give illegals the gold key to the crapper over here in the Land of Opportunity (for everyone not born here), but I’d just as soon not. If us neocons had our way on border security and all the illegals here were kicked out back to where they belong years ago, I wouldn’t be crippled, but I digress. At least I can still ride.
As fond as I am of Archie’s humor, his character was portrayed as both ignorant and poorly educated. I am neither. I hope this “firestorm of change” you refer to isn’t about Obama. It’s bad enough you folks think you got a mandate last November, but let’s not extend the rise of socialism to the entire globe. I have served in the US armed forces, but hardly saw either the world or all 50. If it makes you feel any better, I was in Yuma, AZ recently, riding with an M/C close enough to the Mexican border to see the holes in the fence.
Though not so well traveled as you’d like, I think I’m fairly well read, and I can explain anything you’d care to discuss. I thought I explained why “the rest of the press is so liberal” fairly well above. How we got there was I told Deb that GQ was a laughable news “source,” and that her so-called proof was junk. That drew her standard liberal response of bad-mouthing Fox news. If you look over her past stuff, you’ll see a pattern in her responses where she either attacks Fox or Rush Limbaugh. Her facts aren’t very clear, but her hate for those who tell it like it really is is certainly there. I actually rarely use Fox as a source, though I would if it suited me at the time.
Now let’s see, you said you wanted some old Polish jokes. A good one from the late, great Rodney Dangerfield comes to mind so I’ll share it with you:
“Hey…did you hear the one about the Polish guy…locked his keys in the car…had to go run around looking for a coat hanger so he could get his family out…”
One more:
These two Poles are building a house. One of them is putting on the siding. He picks up a nail, hammers it in. Picks up another nail, throws it away. Picks up a nail, hammers it in. Picks up another, throws it away.
This goes on for a while, and finally his friend comes over and asks him why he is throwing half of the nails away. He replies, “Those ones were pointed on the wrong end.” The buddy gets exasperated and says “You idiot, those are for the other side of the house!”
Hope you like the jokes. I look forward to the next debate.

Hey Joker. Well don’t know about the civil manner, I did use the word troll, apologies, think I may have been a little jealous of your prodigious commenting output. Glad I could put a smile on your face, you did the same trick for me, thanks for the jokes. Aaah, Rodney Dangerfield (of Caddyshack days, not so much Ladybugs). We seem to also share a fondness for Star Trek, I’ve heard rumors that it’ll even be released here within the month (we’re usually forced to wait as much as half a year)
Sorry to hear about your accident, almost understandable that you may hold a grudge about immigrants. Yet, I also know that such intolerant thinking does have a way of festering; what seems inconceivable today, quickly becomes acceptable in a spiral of hate. (http://theendisalwaysnear.blogspot.com/2008/05/fear-of-other.html) My thinking is a bit influenced these days from where I’m living, there’s a bit of hate-history here, along with a book I’m reading by a Pole who moved to America after the war Jerzy Kosinski, The Painted Bird. If you’ve got the stomach for it, it’s highly recommended, it graphically illustrates the depth to which humans are capable of sinking when not exposed to other cultures or thinking.
The ‘Faux’ News challenge is interesting, if I have time I’ll try to dig something up. However, just as you see an evil slant to liberal reporting, we see it at Faux. I don’t get to watch it on TV, only getting my filtered liberal take through blogs and streams of the Daily Show (yes, my liberal slant reinforced). I’m glad to hear you try to watch other channels, or get your news from other sources as the constant barrage of one-sided stories has a way of negatively reinforcing beliefs. Tried to write about it once and change, yet I’m as guilty as many, but still try my best to get through the odd Weekly Standard or the likes article.
Been in Yuma myself, young, visiting grandparents, only remember crossing over to Mexico for the day. Been lucky enough to live in many places since and realize that GQ may not be the most reputable source, but thought the article accompanying the slides was pretty well written (yes, liberal-shaded glasses, I know). When I think about those seeing the constant barrage of grown men crying (Beck), bullying (O’Reilly) or playing with the truth (Hannity et al.) it scares me more than a little bit. From over here, it seems like the whole conservative movement is in danger of isolating itself from the rest of the electorate. And while I welcomed the Obama election, I’m equally scared watching what he’s done with his Bilderberg buddies,(ok, i’m a little conspiracy crazy of late: http://theendisalwaysnear.blogspot.com/2009/05/more-fun-with-conspiracy-theories.html) selling the country down the river in order to maintain the power of the banking elite. The last thing your country needs is an even weaker opposition, a new danger of the two party system may come about when one loses all influence…
Rambling, gotta go teach. Later days
